7 Stylish Window Treatment Options for Your Sliding Glass & Patio Door

When you dress a sliding glass door, you're dressing one of the largest spaces on your wall. The right covering needs to look good, control light and heat, and still let you walk through easily. These are the options we recommend most often.

1. Vertical blinds

The classic choice. Vanes rotate for light control and stack to one side so the door is clear. Modern fabric and textured vertical blinds look much softer than the old plastic ones.

2. Vertical cellular shades

Honeycomb cells that slide sideways. They insulate well, which helps on hot Sacramento afternoons, and stack very compactly. See our cellular shades.

3. Sliding panel tracks

Wide fabric panels glide on a track for a clean, modern look. A great alternative to verticals in contemporary homes.

4. Drapery

Full-length drapery on a traverse rod or track frames the door beautifully and adds insulation and privacy at night. Explore our soft window treatments.

5. Bypass shutters

Shutter panels that slide past each other on a track give a high-end, architectural look and add resale value. See our plantation shutters.

6. Solar or roller shades

For doors that take strong afternoon sun, solar shades cut heat and glare while keeping your view. Mount separate shades on each panel so the door still opens easily.

7. Motorized shades

Large doors mean large shades. Motorization makes them effortless to operate with a remote, app or voice, and removes cords completely.
