Routine care: little and often
Dust your sheer shades every week or two. Lower the shade fully and open the vanes, then use a feather duster, a soft lint-free cloth or a vacuum on its lowest setting with a soft brush attachment. Work gently from side to side.
Blow the dust away
A hair dryer on the cool, low setting is a handy trick for dust that settles between the sheer layers. Hold it a few inches away and sweep across the fabric.
Spot cleaning
- Dampen a clean white cloth with lukewarm water and a drop of mild detergent.
- Dab the mark gently. Don't rub, which can stretch or crease the sheer facing.
- Blot with a dry cloth and let the shade air dry fully, lowered and open.
Always test on a hidden area first.
What to avoid
- Never soak or immerse sheer shades, or put them in a washing machine.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach and stain removers.
- Don't iron or steam them unless the manufacturer says it's safe.
When to call a professional
For heavy soiling or larger stains, an ultrasonic cleaning service designed for window coverings is the safest option.
